Getting Married in Lucca
Many foreigners choose Lucca to celebrate their wedding as the civil wedding ceremony takes place in one of its most beautiful Palaces: Palazzo Orsetti, in the heart of the city.
Palazzo Orsetti dates back to XVI century and was built on the foundations of a medieval Palace, nowadays it is the Municipal City Hall.
Marriages take place in the “Hall of Mirrors” or in the “Green Hall”. The “Hall of Mirrors” was the Palace’s ball-room and is decorated with impressive gold ornaments and Empire style furniture.
The floors are also magnificent, hand-crafted using the “scagliola” technique (painted lime), which is found in many post-Renaissance palaces.
The “Hall of Mirrors” today is mainly used for state meetings while the “Green Hall” hosts weddings.
The “Green Hall” was the Palace’s sitting room and is decorated with an original brocade tapestry of local production and the furniture also dates back to 1800.
Between the two Halls, you may view the “Music Hall” with its original furniture and tapestries. You will reach the Halls by entering through the original front door (1515) designed by architect Nicolao Civitali.
As for a religious wedding you may choose to marry in one of “99 medieval churches” in Lucca or you may prefer to celebrate your wedding in one of the country churches surrounded by the beautiful Tuscan hills.

ASSISTANCE/INTERPRETER FOR LEGALITIES
Getting married in Italy requires some paperwork and appointments with officials.
We can assist you every step of the way, from translating your documentation to scheduling and accompanying you to appointments with Italian officials or completing the necessary paperwork and legalities.
Once you arrive in Lucca we will gladly arrange a welcoming tour and take you to various wedding locations. We also provide you with a bundle of information to enrich your stay.
ACCOMMODATION
In order to get married in Lucca the couple must be in Lucca for at least 4 days (papers are signed 2/3 days before the ceremony) prior to the Wedding.
